It was almost a year ago that Indie-Love took a preview look a World’s Dawn by Wayward Prophet. World’s Dawn a free, Harvest Moon inspired game, has had two big content updates expanding upon the games seasonal theme since last year. You can now experience a summer and fall portion of the game with a final winter season coming later this year. This RPG Maker VX created game has used all non-default assets and art showing some of the best of what you can see from an RPG Maker game. Something many on Steam could learn to do in the future. It is a lot of work since Wayward Prophet is a one man developer.
Wayward Prophet launched a kickstarter last week with a humble goal of $5000. This money is so World’s Dawn can have an art upgrade, custom soundtrack, and advanced quality assurance done. That seems like a lot of work for very little money.
Rarely does a kickstarter offer you a demo game that is already 75% finished, but that is what Wayward Prophet is doing. Even without support, I have no doubt we will see the winter portion of the game. A passion project like this will see completion one way or another. Steam has seen as onslaught Unity based cash grabs. Personally, I would love to see a game like this make its way onto Steam
