Sol Trader is an exciting sounding spaceship roleplaying game from indie developer Chris Parsons. As a somewhat-active EVE Online player who hasn’t had much success, I’m always looking for an alternative to the massively complicated MMO. When I read that Sol Trader promises to deliver a complicated economy with fluctuating market prices and a complex social system, I could understand the excitement Parsons has for the game.
Those who don’t care about economics in an open world game might care more about the political system being put in place. Each universe stays the same physically, but the history of its people will be procedurally generated, affecting its current inhabitants and their ancestors.
I’ll be honest in saying that this project has a lot of goals, and I really hope that Parsons is able to achieve them all in development. Sol Trader sounds to be a game filled with potential, and I hope to explore it someday.
